Reading Rendezvous

What makes a book great? Legendary? A best-seller? A book you can’t put down?
I want readers’ opinions on this topic. Is it the character or setting descriptions? What makes you connect to the book and its characters?
I want to know because I’m in the polishing phase of writing my novel. I’m editing and rewriting to make it the absolute best it can be. My goal is simple:  I want the reader to loose sleep at night because they can’t stop reading my novel. I don’t want the reader to put my novel down because they just have to know what happens next!
Help me get there. What do you think it takes for a book to become your favorite? Suspense, thrill, romance? I’m looking forward to hearing your point of view.
